Dual enrollment (DE) is a postsecondary course, taught either at the postsecondary institution or at the high school, by postsecondary faculty or credentialed adjunct faculty. Dual enrollment instructors must meet postsecondary requirements, but do not have to meet specific TN teacher licensure or endorsement requirements.
Dual enrollment courses can be taught at the postsecondary campus, the high school, or online. The location of the course does not affect its status as a dual enrollment course.
Dual enrollment students at Greeneville Career & Technical Academy are enrolled at the Tennessee College of Applied Technology (TCAT) and earn postsecondary credit upon completion of the course. High school credit is also awarded.
Students participating in dual enrollment at Greeneville Career Technical Academy may also be eligible for the Dual Enrollment Grant.
Dual Enrollment Grant
The dual enrollment grant is one of the Tennessee Education Lottery Scholarships, and it provides grant funding for dual enrollment tuition and fees. The dual enrollment grant pays the full cost of tuition and fees for a student’s first two dual enrollment courses at a community college. Information on grant eligibility and participation requirements is available on the Tennessee Student Assistance Cooperation website.
